Q2 Prep Board
THIS IS A MADE TO ORDER PRODUCT!
lead time is 2 weeks
The Q2 Prep Board is manufactured from a chemically neutral, electrically insulating material. This construction resists degradation from harsh solvents, including acetone, while preventing unintended electrical conductivity making it a dependable surface in uncontrolled environments.
This board is the product of years working in uncontrolled environments. I'm grateful for the experience, but this board would have made my life a lot easier working out of trucks and passenger seats. It's meant to provide a stable and safe surface for you to do your demo work ups on. The rulers are accurate and the information is handy.
Grooves run along and across the board in an integrated ruler to guide knife movement, helping ensure straight, repeatable cuts with improved control. These grooves promote consistency and reduce variability, even when working in less-than-ideal conditions.
A significant amount of quick-reference information is engraved directly into the surface, including commonly forgotten but frequently needed data such as a cube root chart. These permanently etched references streamline calculations and minimize interruptions, keeping critical information immediately accessible when it matters most. While visual contrast may fade over time due to wear or repeated cleaning, the engraved information itself remains intact and usable throughout the life of the board.
Sized to fit inside a standard CamelBak bladder pouch, the Prep Board is highly portable and ready to go wherever your mission takes you. Lightweight, rugged, and purpose-built, it provides a truly reliable work surface that delivers consistency, even as the environment and mission changes.
There are 2 options available, one is more legible (Made of a composite material, brown in color) and the Other is made of a stronger plastic. There are pros and cons to each, and it is important for you, the end user, to make an educated decision on what best fits your mission profile.
Composite Material; (Brown Board)
Pros
-
Stiffer material with minimal flex under load
-
High contrast engravings that are easier to read in most lighting
-
Maintains flatness and rigidity in dry environments
Cons
-
Can snap if subjected to extreme bending or impact
-
Prolonged exposure to water can degrade shape, rigidity, and dimensional stability
-
Not ideal for maritime, jungle, or sustained wet environments. The board will get destroyed
Plastic (Black Board)
Pros
-
More resilient to bending and impact
-
Waterproof and well suited for maritime or high moisture environments
-
Maintains structural integrity with repeated flexing
- Will include free contrast with epoxy, but epoxy is not acetone proof.
Cons
-
Surface scratches accumulate with use
-
Photographs should be referenced for engraving visibility in optimal lighting

THERE WILL BE IMPERFECTIONS IN YOUR MATERIALS SURFACE
This material is unforgiving and knives will scratch the surface as seen in the photographs. The item will patina but will not lose functionality. Try and keep your knife blade in the grooves with constant cutting pressure. Please reach out with any issues or concerns.
