Compact Prep Board

The Q2 Compact Prep Board is a scaled, mission focused version of our full size workspace, designed specifically for pouch carry, dismount kits, and low profile loadouts. At 4 × 6 inches, it provides a rigid, dependable reference surface without the bulk of a full prep board.

Manufactured from the same chemically neutral, electrically insulating material as our full size boards, the Compact Prep Board resists degradation from harsh solvents including acetone while preventing unintended electrical conductivity. This makes it a reliable surface for technical work in controlled and austere environments alike.

Clearly engraved measurement increments in both millimeters and inches allow the board to function as a fiducial reference in photographs, providing immediate scale and dimensional context during documentation, reporting, or remote analysis.

Board Variants

Two versions of the Compact Prep Board are currently available:

General Reference Board

Includes engraved quick reference information commonly needed but frequently forgotten, such as:

• Common DODICs

• Time fuse calculations

• Conversion formulas

• General K50 and 328 distance references at specified distances

HME Precursors Board

Focused on common HME precursor information.

Rear Workspace Features

The back side of the Compact Prep Board provides a firm, flat work surface suitable for demolition preparation and technical tasks. Like the full size board, it is electrically insulating and chemically resistant.

Integrated angle references for 30°, 45°, and 60° are engraved into the surface, allowing for quick alignment during .50 caliber shots or other precision cuts where angular consistency matters.

Boards can be customized with the following options:

• Buzzard, Bomb, and Pick, FMF – $5

• Basic, Senior, Master, or HDS badge – $5

• Name engraving – $7

• Unit logo – $50

  • Free with purchase of 10 or more boards

  • Some unit logos may not be compatible due to size or level of detail

Material Options

Composite Material (Brown Board)

Pros

• Stiffer material with minimal flex under load

• Higher contrast engravings for improved legibility in most lighting

• Maintains flatness and rigidity in dry environments

Cons

• Can snap if subjected to extreme bending or impact

• Prolonged exposure to water can degrade shape and rigidity

• Not suitable for maritime, jungle, or sustained wet environments

Plastic (Black Board)

Pros

• More resilient to bending and impact

• Waterproof and well suited for maritime or high moisture environments

• Maintains structural integrity with repeated flexing

Cons

• Surface scratches accumulate with use

• Engravings are harder to read in poor lighting

• Photographs should be referenced for engraving visibility in optimal lighting

This material is unforgiving by design. Knife use will scratch the surface, as shown in product photographs. The board will develop a patina over time but will not lose functionality. For best results, keep blade pressure consistent and use the engraved grooves where applicable.
